Creating planters with wood has an inherent challenge: How does one deal with water, given that plants constantly require water, and wood suffers damage from water exposure? At the same time, no other material can quite give the same look and aesthetics that wood confers. We have taken on a number of planters projects, one of which uses solid pine wood to hold self-watering pots.

These two projects - a standing planter and wall-hung planters - rely on marine ply to tackle the water issue. Marine ply is inherently stronger and has higher water resistance compared to usual ply used in cabinet-making. By incorporating sufficient drainage holes in the design, we are able to create beautiful wooden planters which are functional at the same time.

This standing planter elevates the plants as well, allowing water to drain off and dry instead of pooling around the plants. This wall-hung planter provides space to hold and hang plants, and storage for gardening tools and materials.
